Kinda irritates me Ford doesn't give us cool engines like the Aussies get- no offence to our Mates down under. I have been watching alot of videos of builds with these engines after first seeing what the Mighty Car Mod guys built. To sum it up they bought a Cresta from Japan. They Put a box stock other valve springs, head studs and oil pump gears Barra in it backed with a turbo 400 and a 9" rear and runs a 9.98 in the 1/4. These inline 6 cylinders are sick and are supporting a reliable 800-1000 wheel hp with a box stock bottom end and stock cams. Take a look and yes If the price was right I would put one in my Cougar. It is Ford so why not....

some other builds 1200hp sleeper https://youtu.be/70XvW4Yh5vw

The Barra is certainly a popular option atm because of the power vs cost factor.
They cost almost nothing to buy ($100-200) in standard form and can be modified cheaply .
The turbo versions are costlier to purchase but wind up the boost and away you go.

Sounds like an LS engine.......go to a junkyard, buy one, put a turbo on it.

Brent,

Yes like an LS. To bad Ford was too stupid and turn down the LS design. They could have dumped the sorry MOD motor junk and we cold have the superior pushrod engine. But no, Ford is stupid. Now look at the new Ford 7.3L gas engine. Can we say LS clone!!!
