Brent , no problem piling on more dome!
I FULLY agree with Paul's chamfer mod as I have been doing it for over 30 years. Just a part of "my routine". I have been saving myself grief and didn't know it! I do it to nut and bolt rods too.

That chamfer sounds like a good idea for sure. Our little iron motor showed excessive walk last tear down also. However we were using factory bolts. I added arp at 120lbs with the lube we will see how it looks this winter. If it looks bad I'll try the chamfer. Also.

That's a good observation and a good tip paul.
Thanks!

Got a factory timing cover and a new cast iron water pump on there now. When the Milodon pan comes back, I'll pop it on....then it's just a waiting game for the heads/intake to be done.

Brent it will be interesting to see how much the block takes!! You over the 600 threshold and Dragboss is at 750+. Alot of beans for our little block. Lol

I think if I don't blow a cylinder wall out, I'll be ok. Seems like the Clevelands had weak cylinders and beefy mains......the Windsors had thick cylinders but weak mains...hahaha

Ok, so what are your all's thoughts on selling my factory heads and Strip Dominator intake and slinging a set of CHI CNC ported heads/intake on? Or should I port the factory stuff and try to do it with factory iron?

G,day,
Factory x 2!
In my opinion depends why you are doing it.
If you just want to make hp and run fast, get a good block, heaps of cam, comp, yates heads etc and go for it.
But I reckon there is a real personal challenge to getting the factory stuff fast and reliable,
have a look at 75 - 80% of the aftermarket stuff out there, you can make more hp/cube with factory gear.
I've got issues but!
Good luck!
Cheers
