Wow - 82 degrees overlap is overboard. It would probably stink at idle and be a have poor vacuum

I recently had a 393 built with Bullet solid flat tappet - it only has 62 degrees overlap - It made 614hp & 527ft/lb with a dual plane... Equal or more power than similar 393 combos with solid rollers.

I had a bad experience with a 'too much overlap' cam. Constantly Fouled plugs, hard to tune at idle, unburnt fuel diluted oil, and it would go black, and the exhaust fumes were blinding. Not fun at all.

The tune can be optimized to handle it, but it's generally not good for street use.

Your solid flat tappet has less overlap because flat tappet camshafts generally have lower advertised durations. Switching to a hydraulic roller takes some careful consideration.
