Just showing some progress with both the TrackBoss 427 Cleveland, and the Custom step headers/ Merge Collectors. Darin Morgans Secret A3, heads are based on the stock A3 head. These are the first of the Ford Motorsport aluminum heads. These A3 heads were first made in 1982. There was an early style, that had exhaust bolt spacing of 2.77 inches, the later Ford Motorsport heads were then all 2.98 inches. Since my current 409 Cleveland has the early style heads, my custom headers are being made to fit them. The secret A3 heads, happened to have one early and one later style A3 head. So Darin Morgan re welded the top hole, re drilled, and tapped with early bolt spacing. This way I can use my new custom stainless steel steel headers being built for the Current combo/heads.

The combustion chambers have been welded up, to make into the modern day chamber you see on all the newer heads. They are 59.8 cc chamber volume. The C302B heads were the closest shape to the modern day combustion chamber, you can see and compare. When he welded up the combustion chamber, also changes location of spark plug. To center and locate correctly, have to sink the spark plug deeper into the combustion chamber, otherwise will be shrouded, and not exposed well to the air fuel mixture. He said the new combustion chamber is so much more efficient. The pic, says that I will only need 29-30 degrees of timing at 8500-9000rpm. Springs I think may be PAC 1246, Darin Morgan said they will be 385 on the seat, and good to .965 of gross valve lift. He is going to design the cam. The remainder of the TrackBoss 427 Cleveland is at BES, Bischoff Racing Engines. Now working on choosing pistons, and cam. Bischoff will start machining the TrackBoss Block soon. .

The headers are being built by JP at Custom Chassis And Headers, in Pataskala, Ohio. these headers are going on the 409 Cleveland that I just dynoed. With single 1050 cfm carb made 775 hp. with the current 4150 carb, made 769hp, should get me my 9.50 time slip. JP is building a custom set of stainless steel headers that have 2 inch primary, that are stepped up to 2 1/8, and also constructing a set of Cone Engineering 7 degree Merge collectors. Hopefully get these done in next couple of weeks, so I can get engine in with new motor plate, go through the trans, and make it to the opening day at Summit raceway on April 16, 2022. Stay tuned.
