Im not sure where that 23 you are referring to is located on your alternator but here is my Motorcraft alternator. The only external numbers it has are on the front part of the case. This is a rebuilt unit I got 20 years ago. Says its a 60amp from a 1979 something. I actually had this one built with upgraded parts and it bench tested at 104amps.

It had no chance though with my new Spal 16" fan, Holley Black pump, MSD-6AL/car electrical and possibly an electric water pump later so I put a Summit 1 wire in it. The old alternator didn't do to bad - with old Summit 14" fan and all same listed stuff above engine hot at idle it would be around 13 volts at the battery (batter in trunk). This also required the voltage regulator and has the MARCH serpentine pulleys - idle at 1000rpm. Now with the 1 wire and with that energy hog Spal fan - at idle hot it is 14.2 volts Turn fan off and its around 14.5v. I still have the pulley on that came with this one.
