Thanks Russ, I hope it runs on the track as well as dyno, The whole vid is like 20 minutes, the kid is good, knows every angle, and hi tech camera. Music seems to fit....

Yes, best dyno run on other half of vid. I usually shift at 75-7600, and go through the traps at 8200.

To tell you the truth never seen any pick up with vacuum pump...took it off for now.. Stick with crankcase breathers and evacs, see what happens.

That will be an interesting comparison Tim. For all of the expense of a vacuum pump I know of several people who saw zero gain. I am sure some see a gain it always seemed to me like very expensive horsepower. Maybe Brent can jump in with some stories of what he has seen? Brian

Gday Tim,
When i tried a star pump on the dyno at 10 inches of vac we picked up 5hp at peak.
Couldn't justify it for that, in hindsight would have been good at helping get rid of moisture out of alcohol engines.
Was explained to me that the better the bore prep / hone job and the better the ring seal is the less hp you will pick up with the vac pump.
Makes sense to me and you could watch the vacuum bleeding down slowly after shutting the egine down.

To be honest, the engines that I use vacuum pumps on, I wouldn't dare run them without. The ring tension is so low that the engine needs negative pressure.

The piston rings and how they are set up is the major factor in whether you need to pull vacuum or not. The less friction, the better.

I have heard the same, one of those try and see things, expensive things, prob got $1800 in everything, well keep testing it.

Oh boy....well here goes...I run stuffed port iron heads on a 408 in my 67 Cougar...got a few passes in at the end of summer after having to sit out all summer after having my right shoulder rotator cuff repaired reattached.....it was completely severed. The 1st combo was 2V heads port matched to a torquer intake with a Crane F260 and low end energuzer rockers with a girdle, hyper KB149 domed pustons. All the cheap shit that aint supposed to work or last. Car would go 11.4 everday with a best of 11.2 at E town on a chilly Sept night. Have to fess up ..I watch DragBoss channel more than I watch anything else. Tim you are just amazing for sharing your time and efforts. Last year at the Etown fall swap meet I picked up a mismatched damaged swt of A3 heads on a low buck roll of the dice and sent them to South Carolina where a buddy hand carried them to a NASCAR shop that repaired them. I was shocked to get them back looking like they were never hurt for $350. Problem was/is I need two titanium valves and I can bolt them up to te next engine combo going in the 67 Cougar. Tim..I watched the video on your channel that mentions you had the holes welded up to match your headers. What headers are you using that worked with the A3's in the 69 ? I would love to put the A3 headed combo in my Mangy Drag cat
